When one reached me, it tore Flame out of my hand and coiled around me.Once the snakes had me covered, from my neck down, in its coils, it locked eyes with me before it suddenly lunged forward. I ex-pected pain, but I hadn’t expected it on this scale. The snake’s head had passed right through my skin, and I could feel its coils constrict-ing, but not on my physical body. No, I felt it constricting my soul, and my body collapsed, leaving my spirit behind with the snake.I was still aware of what was happening because my conscious-ness had remained with my spirit. The snake had started to swallow me- the bottom of its mouth was visible as it closed over my head. The snake had released me from its coils, its jaw unhinged and it used its teeth to force more of me into its mouth.I knew that if something didn’t happen soon, I would be devoured leaving my body an empty husk. I’d still be alive, but would be brain dead, having no consciousness to control it. The snake would use my soul to go out into the sunlight and bring destruction to the Earth. These creatures would begin Armageddon.Once the snake had reached my feet, I knew it was all over. There was nothing to be done to stop this from happening. I closed my eyes in defeat.“Is this really how you’re going to let it end?” a voice asked me. It was female, and sounded familiar. “Consumed by a demon as weak as this one? You’re better than this- you have the courage to fight against this darkness. Fight back.”“Mom?” I thought. “You’re wrong. I’m not strong enough.”“Yes you are. Fight back, Isaac. It’s not your time to die.”I opened my eyes and started struggling. I wasn’t afraid any more. I wasn’t going to let this be the end. The snake demon spit me out, my courage poisoning it. I jumped back into my body and lit myself on fire as I pushed myself off the ground. I grabbed Flame, ready to fight the demon that was attacking.“NO!” the voice howled. “This isn’t possible! You shouldn’t be alive! What have you done?”“I found the courage to fight back,” I replied.I found the source of the voice and ran toward it. I swung my blade and felt it pass through something. I stopped moving and swung Flame again. Once I felt it hit my target, I stopped the blade from pass-ing all the way through.“Tsuroz,” I said, without thinking. “With the power I hold, I send you back to the pit from where you came!”
